Funny how quickly a lawyer discovered the “Edit” button after discovering that his original post had crossed a line.The original was not ambiguous. He posted a photo portraying Vice President Sara Duterte in handcuffs and admitted to getting “some measure of quiet satisfaction” from seeing her that way.

Only later did the words become “even if only in fantasy” and the image change. But screenshots and edit histories have a rather inconvenient habit: they remember what people wish they had never posted.

For a lawyer, this is particularly telling. The law is supposed to teach one the value of due process, restraint and the presumption of innocence. Yet here was a lawyer seemingly taking pleasure in the imagined incarceration of a political adversary—and then hurriedly sanitizing the post when the original became uncomfortable to defend.

You can edit a Facebook post. You cannot edit the record.

And perhaps that is the most embarrassing part: not that he had a political opinion, but that he apparently had to revise the evidence of how viciously he expressed it.
